RANSAPP-MIN 5mm with minerals Membrane is a plastomeric waterproofing membrane consisting of five layers manufactured from a rich mixture of bitumen and selected polymers (Atactic Poly Propylene) blended together to obtain excellent heat & UV resistance and waterproofing properties. The polymerized bitumen is coated on to a dimensionally stable reinforcement core of 160 GSM non-woven spun bond polyester rot-proof fabric/Non-Woven Polyester Mat or 45gsm Glass-Fiber Reinforced. The membrane has excellent mechanical properties and is highly resistant to fatigue and is designed for use in structures exposed to high temperatures.

The Membrane is a polymeric waterproofing membrane consisting of five layers. The Centre core consists of 20 micron High Molecular High Density Polyethylene Film.  The Polyethylene Film is the reinforcement barrier against water and moisture. The Centre Core is provided on both sides with APP polymer modified bitumen with properties of high Softening point, Heat resistance and high Penetration making it ideal for waterproofing purposes.

A typical tarfelt sheet has three main layers:

1. Base Fabric (Reinforcement Layer):

   • Made from hessian cloth, fiberglass, or polyester mat.

   • Provides mechanical strength and dimensional stability.

2. Bitumen Impregnation:

   • The base fabric is saturated and coated with oxidized bitumen or blown bitumen.

   • This creates the waterproof barrier.

3. Surface Finish:

   • The top is finished with fine sand, mineral granules, or aluminum foil to protect against UV rays and weathering.

   • The bottom side is usually coated with fine sand or polyethylene film to prevent sticking during storage.

1. Ordinary Grade (Type 1):

   • Hessian-based.

   • Suitable for temporary or light-duty waterproofing.

2. Glass Fiber Base (Type 2):

   • Stronger, more durable, and dimensionally stable.

   • Suitable for long-lasting waterproofing.

3. Polyester Reinforced (Type 3):

   • High tensile strength and elongation.

   • Suitable for terraces, industrial roofs, and heavy-duty applications.

1. Surface Preparation:

   • The concrete surface must be clean, dry, and primed with bitumen primer.

2. Laying of Tarfelt:

   • The sheet is unrolled and laid with an overlap of 10 cm on sides and 15 cm at ends.

3. Bonding:

   • Heated bitumen or torching method is used to bond the overlaps and fix the sheet firmly.

4. Sealing:

   • Joints and edges are properly sealed to ensure a continuous waterproof layer.

5. Protection:

   • A layer of brick tiles or screed is often applied on top for mechanical protection.

RANSAPP-SELF is a cold applied self-adhesive sheet membrane comprising of a SBS/Polymer modified bitumen layer bonded on to an outer surface of cross laminated polyethylene film of  The SBS/Polymer bitumen adhesive layer is protected on the underside by a silicone release paper which is removed just prior to the application of RANSAPP-SELF to the tack coat primed substrate.
